01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
One diner, who rarely orders tsukune, enjoyed it so much at Umaimonyaki sun that they wanted another skewer. They praised its springy texture, juiciness and flavour, and said the gizzard and chicken skin were satisfying yet tender. Tsukune comes with a choice of salt, egg or cheese, so trying a different flavour with each skewer could be part of the fun.
The menu is centred on skewers, but also offers vegetable dishes to break things up. Reviewers have singled out the aubergine dengaku with white miso and the charcoal-grilled onion topped with meat miso and egg yolk—both tempting choices between skewers. For something fried, there is chicken nanban served with Kyoto-style tartar sauce.
Finish with the “Signature! Lard Rice”, a dish strongly recommended by someone who tried it. For a lighter ending, there is also rice with raw egg or chicken soup rice porridge. Some diners have enjoyed watching the cook at work from the counter, while others have stopped in alone for a shorter evening meal.
